new aera is an independent studio, dedicated to discovering unconventional ways for brands to connect with its customers and create new value.we experiment with how context, culture and content combine to deliver cohesive experiences that make people feel, love and chose a brand.

We believe in the transformative power of human creativity and strong brands. The work we do is always rooted in that belief, and governed by the idea that business value is a consequence of our ability to orchestrate and proliferate creative ambitions and initiatives.

In an aera where companies need to activate and cover more surfaces than ever, and LLMs are becoming a doorman to the customer experience, we help brands maintain defensible positions and launch powerful signals, for both mind and model share.

01Disciplines

We’re forward deployed in everything we do. We do real work for real teams, to deliver real impact. No agency overhead. No lag. Our experience cover three dominant disciplines.

Coalitions, coherence and momentum around the initiatives that matter.

How companies design coalitions and catalysis for its biggest strategic initiatives: driving momentum and teams to pull in the same direction, tell the same story and keep the pace long after launch day.

Build transformative moments, and get exponential returns on creativity.

How a company turns strategy into moments people actually feel. Campaigns and experiences built so that every investment in creativity compounds, instead of evaporating after the media flight ends.

Encode and deploy brand truth in the AI systems that mediate the customer experience

How a brand becomes AI-native, taking control of its narrative and positioning in the models, assistants and answer engines customers now consult before they choose.

what’s the best on-brand move you’re not yet making?

02Institute

We are committed to advance knowledge about how brands grow and create value in the new AI aera, and we collaborate with people who push those boundaries. Our own work, an co-work, is published here.

The world's most valuable companies are built on powerful brands. Distinctive and defensible. Impossible to copy. Brands that represent hard earned trust and billions of dollars in enterprise value. A hard asset, that’s about to become more important than ever, all while facing total structural replacement.

AI will change the meaning of brands and the value they represent to companies and people. The machines are quietly becoming the main mediator and producer of the brand experience, as answer engines replace consideration with shortlists, generative tools produce a rapidly rising and soon-dominant share of content, and agents complete your next purchase*. This is a foundational shift for any business worth more than the functionality of its products.

So many brands will be averaged out, homogenized and clustered into a cannibalistic middle-of-the-road market defined by noise and zero-sum tactical advertising. It will be a painful red pill for businesses who just wanted to move faster, but never had the clout or equity to handle it. It will be the perfect storm of all the worst things advertising and technology can do together.

The industry response has been sort of decremental so far. The same way we always behave when a shiny new object comes our way. Opportunistic inertia. More generative tools for a bursting stack, and false prophets talking about the importance of citation and optimization. From blue links to zero-click. Wow.

While it's important to understand how brands show up in AI answers, it's quickly becoming a commodity exercise. Hygiene. And all that focus on answer engine optimization, is taking focus away from the seismic shift happening below our feet. The industry invented a new channel and new metrics, instead of looking at the new flow of value. and how that's birthing a new brand ontology. The question is: what is a brand and how does it create value, in a world where machines mediate and produce more of the brand experience than humans do?

The new flow of value

For a century, value flowed one way and mostly outward. A company procured creative, paid an agency to buy media, rented attention, and if you were loud enough, it might turn into sales. Brand equity was a byproduct of spend x action. Companies paid an attention tax every quarter and hoped some of it would rub off on the brand.

That linear system is collapsing into a loop. When machines produce more of the brand expression and mediate the path to purchase, value stops moving through acquired attention and starts moving through whatever people and machines can retrieve, trust, and act on. It pools into a shared human and machine truth about a brand, held coherent across interfaces, to a compounding brand signal leaving a stronger imprint and footprint for growing mindshare and modelshare. This way value stops being spent and starts accruing. The attention tax becomes an attention dividend.

Value leaks three ways if you don't manage it. It leaks to the platform, when Meta or TikTok own the customer interaction data. It leaks to the category average, when an ungoverned model sands your distinctiveness down toward the statistical middle. And it leaks to whichever competitor built a stronger brand signal.

So the question stops being how much attention you can buy, and becomes a matter of how your brand is represented and positioned by the new AI doorman, and the degree to which that corresponds with your desired position, and the position you hold with customers. Value flows to the company that can hold and command a canonical brand truth, and cohesively exercise that truth, everywhere.

The new generation of brands

As organizations employ more AI across marketing, commerce and service, the real challenge moves from AI capabilities to a widening orchestration and deployment gap. As AI scales, staying on-brand becomes exponentially harder. So the greatest barrier to scaling brands with AI is not technology. It's trust. Trust that AI will say and do the right thing for the brand. Every AI system hallucinates about brands, because no brand exists in a form machines can understand. Industry standard data from IDC and IBM notes that 90% of all enterprise data is unstructured (documents, PDFs, emails, media files). So most business data and knowledge is not legible to a machine. This is a massive missed opportunity and a potential toe-tag for your brand. It means that machines will misrepresent you, not on purpose, but because you are hiding behind dark data. Over time drift off-brand, dilute meaning, and turn a billion dollar asset into a commodity. It will be messy. Blood everywhere.

It's a cathartic moment, and there will be nowhere to hide. The AI age is a gift to brands that are building for it and have equity and authenticity worth defending. It will be a curse to the hollow ones. The machines will not care about the size of your media budget or your new fancy ad that scored 99/100 from Kantar. They reward earned authority, retrievable domain dominance, buried deep in the digital footprint behind you. When you think about it, not so different from what people reward brands for, only now, posers will be exposed.

The mean will grow, noise will accelerate, and the companies that talked with zero conviction will be purged. Every inch of the most foundational theories we build major brands and marketing departments on, in many cases entire business models, becomes redundant the moment you remove human agency from the buying journey. In a few years, the brand will be split into two halves; one half operates for and from human agency, the other for machine agency.

AI will deliver a new generation of power brands. Brands that scale disproportionately to their category through exalted human creativity and judgement fused with a million agentic margins. These margins will come from a new type of generative intelligence that will help businesses accelerate the positive effect of AI in customer experiences and value creation. We will see a new agentic market where power-brands rule through distinctiveness, trust and intelligence. We will see entirely new value generating modes and models, because the business can move so much closer to where the customer is, what they need and how to deliver it. The role of the brand remains the same; to exercise meaning and feelings into products and services that make someone choose you over a competitor. How we exercise it will change, because AI accelerates customer empowerment and market transparency.

In this market, it will not be the brands with the best models or technology that reign supreme. When content and software can be delivered at unimaginable scale at almost no cost, trust becomes power, and brand becomes an operating logic, and ultimately critical business infrastructure. Governance moves from the streets into the board-rooms, as competitiveness and pricing power become a harness-matter, and the harness becomes the real gearing against rising competition, shitty ads and market homogenization.

Getting it right means building a new operating logic where creativity, context and content can be interlocked by AI properties, working in symbiosis, responding and feeding each other every second, based on what the market wants and needs, while never messing with the brand core . A new way to make sure more dollars become working dollars, grinding for your brand, and generating value for customers.

The future will be owned by the distinctive ones.

The most valuable thing in the agentic brand economy will not be the model. It will be distinctiveness. Defensible distinctiveness. It will be the brand that remains unique while everything else becomes average.

As creativity and human judgment moves up the stack, our ability to transpire and deploy the brand and all its meaning becomes more important. Brands are shaped by a million small adjustments in tactics and format, but they are defined through hyper creative moments. Moments when a company reinforces what the brand stands for, galvanizing its authority, and reminding people of what makes them special.

To summarize there are three foundational challenges that companies need to deal with in this new future. They are not net-new at all, but the negative consequences from not solving them now, will multiply exponentially in the time ahead:

Fragmentation accelerates risk, demolishes ROI and dilutes your brand

Speed can get you there first, but what does it matter if you left everybody else behind

Sameness is the ultimate brand killer, and more companies will scale content, while losing meaning

The new playbook

We shouldn't be raising a new technology to an old paradigm. We should be building for future demand and brand formations. If the current paradigm levies an "attention tax," the future must pay an "attention dividend." This shift moves the core economic engine of the industry away from "revenue generated from ads" toward "revenue generated from value creation. Agents and advertising will shift from token-based drivers today to ‘successful executions’ tomorrow. Rewarded for the value they create, not the money they consume. AI is also exposing fragmented businesses, and customers will levy companies much harder for divergent or broken journeys than before. Simply because people expect brands to see them, and serve them in a seamless flow, because the technology makes it possible. This also means that companies need media, data, technology and creativity to work harder, together.

The future framework comes with 80-20 properties. The 20% on top will be hero brand work, hyper custom and powered by human creativity and judgment. This will be where the brand defining moves live, the experience vision, the brand DNA. The bottom 80% is where AI can add tremendous value in versioning, verifying and running executions at scale, with human-oversight that varies with task complexity.

Every brand should have a fixed core and an elastic edge

Some brands run on trends, they prey on the spike, but have no roots, which means that nothing compounds and they either die or spend tremendously on media to stay relevant. Other brands are confident in their roots, have them tightly locked in, and can move freely, elastically, in culture and conversations, to reinforce their core, rather than chasing highs.

There are five principal concepts supporting this new playbook:

Brand invariance

Companies need to hardwire functional, structural and emotional data on their business and brand into agents, so the systems truly understand who you are, where you come from and where you want to go. A brand invariant. This is not a marketing task. It's a business logic, to ring-fence premiums, and proliferate brand power. Think about it as brand source code, an invariant of who you are, wrapped around agents and actions to defend and accelerate equity.

Brand variance

Brands should be able to morph and manifest in different ways, through different context, to power their cultural capital. Knowing what’s always true and locked-in, the brand invariant, means that experimentation becomes easier, faster and less scary. A strong brand invariant provides access to an almost infinite variance game, an expanding sandbox, to explore new frontiers of customer engagement. There are so many adjacent possibilities available to brands that they could never access before: channels, formats and markets that can now be explored while staying true to the brand.

Brand defining moments

Top of the hierarchy creativity built on real human conviction and emotional intelligence is what leaps a brand forward, and defines it, everything else is incremental. More than ever before, companies need to leave powerful impressions that fortify their position with both humans and machines. This is the 20% that defines and directs the rest. Brand defining moments matter more than ever before, because that's when a business earns its keep, and reinforces domain authority, to exercise power and build a digital footprint that can’t be duped by a competitor or a model.

Conversational commerce

Businesses move from always-on, to always-active. From broadcasting messages to engaging in thousands of concurrent, hyper-relevant micro-conversations daily. The 'ad' is an instantaneous, personalized response to a customer signal (a search, a verbatim comment, a location ping, a product query), designed to offer the most useful next step. When a brand becomes a digital organism, and agentic commerce becomes real, this will be the new working model.

Relationship-as-asset

Every interaction, even an ad view, must be net-positive for the customer. This builds 'Relationship Equity.' Brands invest in helping customers make better choices. For example by delaying a sale to earn long-term trust, by ensuring the solution is right for what the customer needs. The value is in the acquired data signal and the reinforced relationship, not the immediate conversion.

There is an alternative scenario where none of this happens. Everything stays the same, and we miss the train to make a real change to a slightly broken system. It wouldn't be the first time that happens. This train though, is not just passing through. It's a goddamn bettering ram of five macro forces at play at once; technological disruption, consumer empowerment, societal value shifts, market saturation and global volatility and unpredictability. It's not a new channel or metric. It's an entire new cycle for brands and businesses.

The new cycle starts here: fixate your brand core, everything that makes you distinctive and loved today, and turn it into active brand code, shaping the brand tomorrow. One brand truth cascaded into every decision and action, by people or machines. For coherence, defensibility and growth, and new answers to a hard question: what's the best on-brand move you're not yet making?

*For the record, let's take a look at the most extreme facts that has fueled the discussion above:

About half of all consumers use AI to make buying decisions or do product research (McKinsey), and 93% of all AI users use it for product discovery and shopping recommendations (PYMNTS). At the same time search is going towards zero-click with warp speed; 58% of consumers have replaced traditional search with GenAI for product recommendations (Capgemini), and In July this year, 62% of Google users were there for AI product-discovery, up 17% from June (Google).

AI now produces more than half of new web content (Graphite); over 50% of all new web articles are produced by AI, 74% of all new webpages contain AI written content, and 97% of content marketers plan to use AI for content creation this year (Ahrefs). Content demand is outrunning human capacity; 71% of marketers expect content demand to grow more than 5x by 2027 (Adobe) and 88% of enterprises use AI agents for customer text/voice (Sinch). So an expanding volume of content will be touched or delivered by AI, all while consumers say they reduce their engagement with AI generated content by 52% (theStacc). That's you losing half of your customers every time you produce a piece of content with AI that doesn't feel distinctively you.

More marketing dollars is flowing into AI; CMOs put 15.3% of their marketing budgets into AI initiatives (Gartner), and 73.9% of companies use AI in marketing for content creation (The CMO Survey, Duke Fuqua), up from 49.2% in fall 2023. All while AI is involved in 24.2% of marketing activities, up from 13.1% in 2024, and marketing leaders expect it will be 55.9% within three years (Duke Fuqua).

B2B takes the hardest hit: AI is dismantling the website (ABM); B2B website traffic is down 34% from 2024 to 2025, a trend expected to grow hard year on year. And the B2B buyer journey is getting rearranged; 51% of B2B buyers start their research in an AI chatbot (G2), and they influence 54% of B2B buyer shortlists (IvrisTech).
